The Carbon Trust Energy Efficiency Loans Scheme provides interest free, unsecured loans to SME businesses to allow them to invest in equipment to allow energy savings. Slightly different conditions apply in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, but loans can be from £5,000 to £100,000 (£400,000 in Northern Ireland), and are repayable over a period of up to 4 years.

It is intended that repayments of the loan are effectively paid for out of energy cost savings achieved.
