The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards. It is designed to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria providing greater protection for consumers.
The MCS is the only certification scheme to cover all microgeneration products and services, and has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as a prime method for making a substantial contribution to cutting the UK’s dependency on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.
The MCS gives consumers the guarantee that certified microgeneration products and the installers of those products have conformed to a rigorous set of standards. To qualify for financial incentives, such as the Renewable Heat Initiative (RHI), both the microgeneration product and the installer must carry the MCS mark.
Our homes account for around 27% of the UK’s carbon emissions, a major cause of climate change. Many consumers want to increase their energy efficiency and contribute to a low carbon economy. Microgeneration offers a wide range of technically advanced low carbon and renewable technologies that will help to:
MCS covers all microgeneration technologies (e.g. solar, biomass and heat pumps). Bioenergy concentrates purely on biomass combustion systems, resulting in the depth of knowledge and high levels of expertise that comes from specialization.
The ECA Scheme website domain name will change from www.eca.gov.uk/etl to http://etl.decc.gov.uk/etl on the 23rd June 2011
As previously announced in our email of the 27 May 2011 the ECA Scheme domain name is changing as part of the Government’s Website Rationalisation Programme. The purpose of the change is to make access to information easier by significantly reducing the number of open Government websites.
The Energy Technologies List site, as a Government website will move to a new domain as part of the DECC website. The ETL site will be available at http://etl.decc.gov.uk/etl from the 23rd June 2011
From the 23rd June until the 31st July a domain name redirect will be placed on the existing ECA scheme domain name (i.e. www.eca.gov.uk/etl) which should automatically redirect you to the new domain name. From the 1st August the old domain name will no longer exist.
A final communication will be sent on the 22nd June to remind you that this change is occurring.
If you have any enquiries relating to this change then please contact DECC using one of the options provided below.
